LEGO blockletter bricks 2x4

This mould is called blockletter because of the big "blocky" letters spelling out "LEGO" underneath. The bricks are the very first LEGO bricks to be marked with LEGO. The previous mould being the ABB mould which had absolutely no markings.

The mould had to be in use together with the ABB mould because there were no 2x2 bricks in it. So they are often found together. It was in use from around 1952 to 1953 when it was sent to Norway and replaced by the blockletter with number mould which had all the brick sizes in it.
