The dogbone mould got its name from the logo used on the bricks. This logo is known as the "dogbone logo" because of the shape of the letters and bone-like colour. The dogbone bricks are quite common to find in Denmark. They were made during a period LEGO was heavily investing in the LEGO brick and the LEGO System. From 1954 until the introduction of the "hollow brick" and the end of slotted bricks in 1956 the dogbone bricks were in production.
There were multiple moulds for the dogbone bricks. One with 1x2, 2x2, 2x3 and 2x4 bricks which was eventually sent to Iceland. Another with long beams and corner bricks, and lastly one which may have just had 2x4 bricks. So dogbone bricks is the brick type that exists with the most slotted brick variations!
Brick variations
Here is an overview of what bricks were available in this mould. The short lines crossing the outlines of the bricks are there to identify the slots in the bricks. Not shown here are 2x12, 2x14 beams, and corner bricks.
