Blue short LEGO beams

In early 1954 the LEGO brick lineup was once again expanded, this time with the short beams mould which had the new 2x8 and 2x10 bricks. It was a simple mould only consisting of 8 bricks, 4 - 2x3 bricks, 2 - 2x8 bricks and 2 - 2x10 bricks. The bricks can also be found without slots, but they are quite rare. They were likely made closer to 1956 when the hollow bricks mould came.

All the bricks in the mould also have a small number on the inside indicating the position in the mould. The 2x3 bricks are marked 1, 4, 5 and 8, the 2x8 bricks 2 and 6, and the 2x10 bricks 3 and 7.

Brick variations

Here is an overview of what bricks were available in this mould. The short lines crossing the outlines of the bricks are there to identify the slots in the bricks. The artwork is not entirely to scale, so imagine the two 2x4 bricks are one 2x10 and 2x8.
