Icelandic ABB bricks

The Automatic Binding Bricks mould was the first to arrive in Iceland. It started its life in Denmark in 1949 to 1952, was used in Sweden a short period in 1950, in Norway from 1953 to 1954, and eventually in Iceland from 1955. Through all its years of use the mold eventually began to be worn down and it caused some issues. The small "bubbles" that can be seen on the inside of the bricks were likely added on purpose to make the bricks stick better to the mould. Luckily for us it can be used as an identifer for Icelandic ABB bricks, as the bubbles do not appear on bricks from any other country.

It is unknown how long this mould was in use, a guess would be not too long into 1956. Eventually being replaced by the blockletter and dogbone moulds.
